Lesson:13  我 家 有 四 口 人。

There are four people in my family.

我 叫 林娜,我 是 法国 留学生。我 家 有 四 口 人:爸爸,妈妈,哥哥 和 我。我 爸爸 是 职员,妈妈 是 老师,哥哥 和 我 都 是 大学生。
My name is Lin Na, I'm a French student. There are four people in my family: father, mother, elder brother and me. My father is a clerk, mother is a teacher, My brother and I are both college students.

Chinese Grammars.

1: The “有” sentence
(1) Ther verb “有” is used as the main word of the predicate to indicate possession.
For example:

There are four people in my family.
我们 法国
There are two Frenchmen in our class.
妈妈
I have mother.
(2) Its interrogative form is: the “有” sentence + “吗?”
For example:
你们 韩国
Do you have Korean in your class?
你们
Do you have puppies in your family?
(3) Its negative form is: “没/没有” + noun.
For example:
没有 姐姐
I don't have an elder sister.
我们 没有
We don't have puppies.

2: The Interrogative Pronoun “几”
The interrogative pronoun “几” is used to ask about a number, usually less than 10.
For example:

How many people are there in your family?
女儿
How old is your daughter?
韩国
How many Koreans are there?

3: The attribute
An attribute is used before the subject or object to modify or restrict the subject or object. Since a noun is often used as the subject or object, an attribute is often used to modify or restrict the noun.
For example:

international student from Japn

中国)
Chinese people

汉语)老师
Chinese teachter

my home


4: Measure Word “口”
” here is a measure word used for the number of people in a family.

5: The position of the adverbs “也” and “都”
The adverbs “” and “” must occur after the subject and before the verbal predicate.
If both “也” and “都” modify the predicate, “也” must be put befort “都”.
Subject + Adv(也/都) + V(verbal predicate)
For example:
哥哥 大学生
My brother and I are both college students.
学习 汉语
He studies Chinese, too.
没有 姐姐 没有 妹妹
I don't have a elder sister, No younger sister, either.
我们 学习 汉语
We all study Chinese.
汉语 学生
They are all Chinese students, too.
